Hi Harry, thanks for posting a comment. To visit the reserve, you should contact the Northern Jaguar Project in Tucson, AZ. They were the ones who had us organize the trip on the river, but it is possible to visit by land. https://www.northernjaguarproject.org/

Hope you are able to arrange a visit and perhaps donate to the cause.

Jeff,

This was a trip we organized for NJP in 2016. I would love to do it again, but that is entirely up to them. I think they will be offering it in the future though and we will likely be involved if they do. I recommend you contact the Northern Jaguar Project directly and ask them when they will be offering the next river trip to visit the preserve. The more interest they receive, the more likely it is to happen!

Thanks for your interest!

Hi Mac,

Never said we were the first to run the Rio Aros/Yaqui! Just the first "commercial" descent. We did it in 2010 before guiding on the river in 2011. Our friend Rocky did it many years ago by kayak and was probably the first to run it. I have seen the biological inventory and have a copy of it already, very cool. As I understand it, your trip covered just the Aros and Yaqui portion, not the Mulatos. Please enlighten me with more information if that is not true. Always interested in the history of river running on these rivers.
